Update 10/11/19

Updated: Oct 12, 2019

View the Update Here >>>

This week has been slower than last week, but we have made progress nonetheless.

HERE'S WHAT WE ARE DOING:

GROUP LETTER TO BOARD MEMBERS

The group letter requested that the We Love Warner group work with the Manitou Fund to develop a transition plan. The letter was sent by email and also by snail mail to all four board members. We currently have not had any responses from any of the board members.

As a reminder, the group letter suggested that we want to help with the vision for Warner. We believe that collectively we can contribute our experience, knowledge, and expertise gained from hundreds of combined years at this award-winning nature center. We are confident that we have the skills to help with and ease a transition to maintain the relationships of the schools and the support of the community at large. We want to minimize the impact on the children, the community, and the land.

RESULTS OF TEACHER SURVEY

We have assessed and compiled a report for the results of the survey we sent to teachers that have previously brought their students to the WNC. We plan on sending the results to interested parties as well as post them on the website for everyone to see. When you read through the teachers’ responses, you can really feel the passion for Warner behind their answers. Teach Survey Results >>>

WE LOVE WARNER’s FUTURE

Moving forward with this group’s future, We Love Warner may transition into a group that hosts monthly get-togethers for volunteers and staff. It will be a way for people linked to the Warner Nature Center to reconnect, hike, and reminisce about Warner. Some locations and dates have already been thrown around.

SOMETHING FOR YOU:

SIGN & SHARE PETITION

The petition to show your support for Warner Nature Center’s legacy currently has 740+ signatures, and every hour it grows. If you have already signed and shared the petition. THANK YOU! If not, click here to sign the petition.

Seeing all the support from the community has positively impacted the cause to save Warner’s mission and to keep the current legacy ALIVE.

We are encouraging everyone to hang up these posters on bulletin boards in places people frequent. Print Off Posters >>>

JOIN FACEBOOK GROUP

We now have an open group on Facebook. Please join us on social media to share stories, memories, experience, and news articles. We would like to cultivate a positive online community where people can share their best photos and stories of Warner. In the future, we also plan to post our upcoming monthly meeting dates and location. Join FB Group >>>

READ STORIES OF WARNER

Many folks have submitted a story to the We Love Warner website. Go read the passionate and sometimes chilly stories that we have collected. And, if you haven’t yet, submit your own story! The more, the merrier! Read Stories of Warner >>>

Get Involved w/ We Love Warner

Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 at 4 PM at the Stillwater Public Library - 3rd Floor. Please join us if you feel you have something to add to our efforts moving forward or want to sit in and listen during our meeting.

We Love Warner is a group of concerned volunteers who love the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center for its mission (to build lasting relationships between people and the natural world) and for its spirit that lives in the people, programs, and ecosystem. Our mission is to continue the legacy of Warner Nature Center for future generations.
